Van Driver Agency in Marlborough

Van and multi-drop drivers on a standard Category B licence, for parcel, courier and last-mile work, supplied to operators in Marlborough and the South West as temporary cover.

Logistics around Marlborough

What Marlborough sites get from us

Around Marlborough the depots sit further apart than they do in the Midlands or the North West, so an absent driver cannot simply be covered from the next site down the road.

The freight geography around Marlborough runs on the M5, M4 and A38, the Severn crossings, Bristol Airport and the deep-water docks at Avonmouth and Royal Portbury. Operators draw on Western Approach at Severn Beach and Central Park at Avonmouth and the employers booking temporary staff here are typically aerospace and defence supply chains around Bristol, Yeovil and Gloucestershire.

Long lead distances mean an operator running one driver short often has to buy two shifts of cover, because the round cannot be squeezed into somebody else's remaining hours.

We supply Marlborough from a national operation. That means the pool is wider than any single town could offer: licence categories, shift patterns and site experience are matched to what you actually booked. The worker is fully checked before you are given a name.

Roles we fill

Multi-drop is a physical job that people underestimate because the vehicle is small. Parcel rounds, grocery totes, cages up flights of stairs and restart after restart all day. Somebody who can drive but cannot sustain the round fails halfway through it, which is the most expensive point at which to find out.

Because there is no qualification card and no tachograph on a Cat B seat, the driving licence record does more work here than anywhere else. Endorsement codes, when they were given, what they were for and how many there are amount to the closest thing to an objective record of how somebody drives. A DVLA share code lasts twenty-one days, so it is generated fresh rather than filed and forgotten.

Shifts and start times

Day-shift multi-drop over long rural rounds, where the constraint is the driving hours rather than the drop count.

Sortation and load-out start before dawn, with routes out by mid-morning. Grocery and evening delivery slots run through to late evening, including weekends.

Before an agency driver takes a company van, somebody has to confirm the insurance covers them, that the licence check is current and that the walkaround defect check has been done and signed. It is a five-minute question that stops a shift dead at six in the morning if nobody asked it the night before, so it gets asked when the booking is taken.

The checks we run

Cover that turns up — Checked before the shift, not after the incident. Each item below is verified at registration and the licence checks repeat on a 90-day cycle.

  • Category B licence checked by DVLA share code and re-checked every 90 days, with points and disqualification history reviewed.
  • Right to work verified from original documents.
  • References taken.
  • Where the client requires it, a basic DBS check.

Rates and payment

PAYE hourly or per route as agreed on the booking, paid weekly. Where a route is priced per drop, the drop count is agreed in writing before the shift rather than adjusted afterwards. Holiday accrues under the Working Time Regulations and every assignment is PAYE.

Workers on assignment for 12 weeks in the same role qualify for equal treatment on pay and basic conditions under the Agency Workers Regulations 2010. We track that week count from the first shift and tell you before it lands, rather than after.

Open shifts

Shifts appear here once they are booked and confirmed. We would rather show you an empty board than an invented one — register your availability and we will match you against what comes in.

Questions, answered

How quickly can you cover a van and multi-drop driver shift in Marlborough?

It depends entirely on notice. A booking placed the afternoon before is usually fillable; one placed at 05:00 for an 06:00 start rarely is, whatever any agency tells you. We will always give you a straight answer on the call rather than a maybe.

What do you check before a van and multi-drop driver starts work in Marlborough?

Category B licence checked by DVLA share code and re-checked every 90 days, with points and disqualification history reviewed. Right to work verified from original documents. References taken. Where the client requires it, a basic DBS check. All of it is completed before the assignment is confirmed. A worker who fails any part of it does not get offered the shift, which occasionally means we hand a booking back.

How does invoicing work for temporary staff in Marlborough?

You get one invoice a week, not one per shift. Each line traces back to a specific assignment and an approved timesheet, so a query can be settled by looking at the line rather than by an argument about what was signed.
